flight instrumentation for the electrical system, this is the system to consider.
"Idiot lights" got a bad rap on cars for decades because they were simply
not endowed with "intelligence" for greatest possible significance. These Low
Voltage Warning light modules are calibrated for accurate bus voltage monitoring
set to trigger at 13.0 +/- 0.2 volts. This value was selected as
too low to charge the battery but sufficiently high to keep the battery from
being discharged. So, as long as the light is dark, the alternator is carrying
all of ship's current electrical loads. Should the alternator fail for any
reason, bus voltage will quickly fall to battery's energy delivery voltage
of 12.5 volts and below as the battery discharges. This drop will occur within
a few seconds of the failure event. If your airplane is fitted with an auxiliary battery to support an electrically dependent engine, an extra output from the LV Warn/ABMM module will manage the auxiliary battery contactor to provide automatic partitioning of the auxiliary battery to support only those loads that require aux battery support during alternator-out operations. The kit comes complete with LV Warn/ABMM module, LED indicator lamp fixture and mating connector. A copy of detailed installation instructions can be downloaded for review by Clicking here. There is an optional configuration offered which rewires the aux battery management output to operate an incandescent indicator lamp. This feature may be desirable for systems that have an annunicator panel array fitted with incandescent lamps. This configuration of the LV Warning Module does not support the aux battery management function. See installation instructions for more detailed description of features and installation wiring.
